About the European Curling Championships

The European Curling Championships have been held every year since 1975. The event is open to men’s and women’s Teams from the World Curling Federation’s European Zone and determines qualification for the next World Curling Championships.

Seven Teams qualify if the next WCC is being held in the European Zone. Eight Teams qualify if the next WCC is in the Americas or the Pacific-Asia Zone.

In 2012, the Group A event will be played at the Löfbergs Lila Arena in Karlstad Sweden and features the top 10 men’s and 10 women’s Teams.

The Group B event will be played at Karlstad Curling Club and will feature a further 10 women’s Teams and 16 men’s Teams.

It will be the fourth time that Sweden will host the European Curling Championships. Vasteras (1983) Sundsvall (1994) Örnsköldsvik (2008).
